In this workshop, the aim is to spend a Saturday night and a Sunday night photographing the Ghost fungus and the rising Milky Way core in the Narooma area of the NSW South Coast.

The Ghost fungus (Omphalotus nidiformis) is a bioluminescent species of fungi found in south east Australia from southern Queensland through to Tasmania. 

As I will be scouting around for fungi before the workshop, the workshop will not formally start until about 3 pm on the Saturday but people are welcome to make their own arrangements and come down on the Friday night and join me for the hunt. 

Obviously I can't guarantee locating any fungi, as this also depends upon weather conditions leading up to the workshop which cannot be anticipated but the proposed time for the workshop has proved good for locating fungi in the area so I will do my best! In fact, I have successfully located fungi at this time of year over several years in the Batemans Bay to Narooma areas, but it can take a lot of work.  

Similarly, conditions for suitable astrophotography cannot be guaranteed but there is huge scope for general landscape photography in the area should there be cloudy conditions.

You should also become prepared to be mindful of mosquitoes, leeches, ticks and other pests and be prepared to take precautions such as bringing suitable insect repellents as well as thoroughly checking yourselves after each session on the fungi.

A basic level of fitness will be required for the workshop  including the capacity to walk down a reasonably steep uneven track to one of the locations. Sturdy shoes should be brought along.

As indicated the cost is for my tuition on the course, you are responsible for arranging your own accommodation, travel and any other costs such as travel and insurance. 

I shall endeavour to advise you of where I am staying beforehand and we may wish to share meals together!
